Important Update for our Clients:
3/18/2020, 10:00 AM
The COVID-19 outbreak is an important concern for everyone, and we at the Medial Center for Birds want to do everything we can to help. As this situation develops, we all will try to work together, and stay consistent with the guidelines provided by our county, state, national and international authorities. Understandably, changes can and should be expected.
The current Shelter in Place mandate
At the present time, the bulk of the Bay Area, including Contra Costa County, is ordered to shelter in place. Essential services, including veterinary health care, shall remain open. The projected time frame is at least through April 7.
We will be here to provide the needed health care for our patients
Should you have any symptoms of illness (fever, sore throat, runny nose, cough), or if you know you have been exposed to someone with similar symptoms, please let us know, and if possible, reschedule your appointment.
If you have a bird that needs medical care, if you can find someone who has not been in close contact with you bring your bird to us. As long as we are allowed, we intend to remain open to examine and provide medical care for birds that need it.
More routine procedures and examinations may be best to defer at least for the next few weeks, if possible.
We have asked that our staff increase the frequency of our disinfection procedures for all surfaces that people come in contact with, and are advising hand washing as frequently as possible, in multiple areas within the practice.
Please feel free to remain in your car once you have let us know you have arrived, particularly if there is a number of people in the waiting room.
Is my bird at risk?
At present time, there is no evidence that birds can be infected by this coronavirus, nor can they transmit it to us.
Thank you for all of your support and understanding,
The Medical Center for Birds
